Claire Cunningham
Claire , our Chairperson is director of Aura Internet, an IT company offering web development and training which recently celebrated 20 years in business. Claire also works with the Local Enterprise Office providing training courses. She is a member of the Monaghan IT Forum, Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce and the Patrick Kavanagh Society.
Sally Murtagh
Sally, a Castleblaney native , is an entrepreneurial professional with over two decades of experience. Throughout her career she has established multiple thriving care companies, such as Irish HomeCare Services, in 2005. Known for her exceptional team building skills and innovative thinking, Sally has
extensive knowledge of the home care industry and has successfully secured Government All Ireland contracts. Furthermore she has considerable expertise in buying and selling small and medium sized businesses. Currently, Sally is focused on developing a new care company that specializes in independent living for older people.
Pat O’Brien
Pat is a self-employed Publican and the Enterprising Monaghan representative for Ballybay. Pat has spent the last 30 years involved in Community Development in his local area.
Marie Mohan
Marie Mohan is a qualified Accountant and Financial Director of Greenfield Foods in Monaghan. Over the last 30 years, she has gained vast knowledge and experience of the egg sector in Ireland and abroad. Along with her husband John, they have grown the business organically to become a leading player in the Irish egg market. Based on the border, they have an associated company in Northern Ireland also.
Declan Nelson
Declan studied Environmental Science in the Dublin Institute of Technology and worked for a number of years as an Environmental Health Officer in the Eastern Health Board. He also graduated with a B. Comm from UCD and was a College Lecturer in D.I.T. His career in local government began in Louth County Council when he was appointed housing officer. He also held the post of County Manager in Monaghan County Council. He has served as a board member and chairman of numerous boards at local and national level, and has served as a board member of the National Museum of Ireland.
Claire McAree
Claire has a BA in European Business and German, specialising in Finance. She completed a 2 year IBEC graduate programme with Combilift. Claire managed a team in Citi Bank looking after their German clients. Claire now works as Chief Financial Officer in her family business, McAree Engineering. She is involved in numerous local communities and boards including Enterprising Monaghan and the North East Lean Committee where she is vice-chair.
Padraig Watters
Padraig is a self-employed machinery, fuel sales and property development professional. He resides in Muckno parish and is a board member of the Castleblayney Enterprise Centre. Padraig devotes his spare time to helping the homeless, needy and unemployed in his local community. In addition he serves as a peace commissioner.
Annmarie McHugh
Annmarie qualified with a B.Eng in Electronics and is a business lecturer in DKIT, specialising in Entrepreneurship. She represents Ireland as a part of an EU Entrepreneurship Education initiative. A member of the North East Lean Network committee and owns a CV & Interview business.
Noel McKenna
Noel is a chartered surveyor, chartered building engineer and architectural consultant professional with over twenty years’ experience at senior level. He set up his own practice, Noel McKenna & Associates Ltd, in 1996. He is currently head of the Department of the Built Environment at the Dundalk Institute of Technology(DKIT). The department delivers honours degree programmes in Civil Engineering, building surveying and other related subject matter.
Paraic Duffy
Páraic was principal of Saint Macartan's' college , Monaghan from August 1996, until he became the GAA's first Player Welfare Manager in 2007. In February 2008 he was appointed Director-General of the GAA and served in the role until his retirement in 2018.
Paraic currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of management of Saint Macartan's College and is President of Ulster Schools GAA. He sits on several boards, including Sport Ireland, and is Chairperson of Sport Ireland's Audit and Risk Committee.
Paul Shortt
Paul, was originally trained as an accountant with PWC and served as financial director at Norish Plc for 18 years. He formed Castlecool in 1994 and the company expanded to become the largest temperature-controlled warehousing company in Ireland. Castlecool was sold to US company Agro Merchants group in 2014. Paul now provides business consultancy to various companies in the county. he is a mentor for Enterprise Ireland and the IDA, as well as director of Castleblaney Enterprise Centre.
John McEntegart
John holds an honours degree in Business Studies and an M.B.A. He worked as financial controller for a multi-national firm, before joining the Monaghan County Enterprise Board as CEO in 1996. He was also head of enterprise with Monaghan County Council Local Enterprise Office. He has served as secretary of Enterprising Monaghan since 1998.
Emma Gollogly
Emma is a native of Carrickmacross but now living in The Scotch Corner, Co. Monaghan. She is a qualified financial advisor and managing director of Gollogly Insurances Ltd t/a Golo.ie a family business established in 1986. She has grown the business along with a team of qualified financial advisors and insurance professionals. She is a member of Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce and the Monaghan Lions Club.
Tony Ward
Tony is from Lough Egish and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989. He is married to Eleanor and has two children, Ronan and Rachel.
Tony has worked in a variety of roles in practice, consultancy and in finance and fundraising roles in the charity sector. From 2016 to 2022 he was Director of Finance with The Wheel, the national umbrella body for charities and nonprofits in Ireland. He recently embarked on a career as an Independent Consultant providing finance, governance, leadership and mentoring services to a range of organisations in the private, public and charity sectors. Coincidentally having left The Wheel in April 2022, Tony was asked to act as Interim CEO during a period of change from January to May 2023 and continues to support the organization.
Tony has been involved in a number of organisations as non-executive director over the years and at present, aside from having joined the board of Enterprising Monaghan, he is treasurer of his local Aughnamullen men’s GAA club and chairperson of its ladies GAA club.
Since May 2022 he is a member of the board of the Charities Regulator, he is chair of Chartered Accountants Ireland charity and nonprofit Special Interest Group and independent chair of Iarnród Éireann Disability User Group.
Tony is very interested in sport and is an active runner and cyclist. He represented Ireland in six World and European Championships in middle distance athletics from 1999 to 2005 and has run six marathons, most recently, and perhaps finally, New York 2015!
