Digital Hub Hailed As Key Enterprise Initiative

The new Monaghan Digi Hub at the M:Tek 1 building in Knockaconny was hailed as a key initiative for the future development of regional economic enterprise in the Border region when it was officially opened by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys on Monday morning last. A project of the Enterprising Monaghan business support agency to generate new remote working opportunities, the facility is the culmination of a three-year process which has seen significant capital investment accessed to evolve the hub facility at the existing M:Tek building.

Already up and running, the hub houses four new companies and has provision for another 12-15 hot desk users. Its development has led to a major upgrade in the building’s IT infrastructure, with privacy booths with facilities and equipment for pod casting available to hub users. Northway Mushrooms, the Braincalm institute, Monaghan Alzheimers Association and Moonshine Design are currently in operation at the facility which, as Digi Hub Manager Dora MacElwain proudly outlined to Minister Humphreys when presenting her with an appropriately organic gift, had been designed with an emphasis on biophilic principles, foregrounding connection between its interior spaces and the natural environment through the use of plants, natural…
